Terrorism Offences

Terrorism Offences

To be convicted of such offences does not require for you to carry out any specific activity. Planning, assisting or holding material on how to commit such offences is enough to be convicted under Terrorism Legislation. Recently legislation has been passed which prevents early release of convicted terrorists and therefore such accused are subject to length imprisonment.

The Terrorism Act 2000 and 2006 created a range of offences that fall under this category including being a member of a prohibited organisation and possessing documents on how to commit terrorist attacks e.g. bombings. The law in this area is constantly developing. You may be completely unaware that your actions are positively assisting a terrorist network. There may be instances where you have unwittingly shared information on social media or made a charitable donation to a terror group masked as a charity.
